New Report: Will Hurd has 4th highest increase in special interest money in Congress
Last week, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) released a new report concerning special interest fundraising by freshman members of Congress.
The report cites Congressman Will Hurd as having received a 457.31% increase in special interest money from the 2014 to 2015 election cycle. Rep. Hurd has the 4th highest totals out of 58 first-term Members of Congress counted in the report.
Following is a statement by Gallego campaign spokesperson Lyndsey Rodriguez:
"Texans are smart enough to follow the money. Children, small business owners, and veterans in places like Soccoro and Brackettville can't cut big corporate checks to get Mr. Hurd's attention.
"The sad truth is, Mr. Hurd is bought and paid for by special interests groups who do not care about the actual well-being of Texas families.”
Following is a statement by Pete Gallego, former Congressman and current candidate for TX-23:
"Now we know that Congressman Hurd’s cash is special interest cash from Washington – not local interest support from TX-23. Most voters in the 23rd know that special interest money flooding the district is not something to brag about.”
