Cartoonists are heroes of mine. Humor is a wonderful thing; it's especially effective when used to make a point.

We are so privileged to live in a country where cartoonists are allowed to do their job. In some places, cartoonists are killed. Here, we honor them.

 

My favorite cartoonist is Ben Sargent, formerly of the Austin American Statesman. Being so close to the Texas Capitol gave him a close view of what our Legislature was doing - and he took full advantage. I was sad when he retired.

 

Today, the US is blessed to have many talented cartoonists.  Here's a smattering of some cartoons that caught my attention, made their point effectively, and brought a smile to my face.
